Psychoanalytic Educational Forum of Boston

The Psychoanalytic Educational Forum of Boston (PEFB) grew out of a common goal to bring psychoanalytic ideas and thinking to the training of mental health professionals.  PEFB was founded in 1997 and is sponsored by the three major Boston psychoanalytic institutes:  Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis, and PINE Psychoanalytic Center.  Although PEFB presents educational programs designed specifically for students and recent graduates of psychology, social work, psychiatry, and nursing programs, all mental health professionals are welcome.

PEFB programs are presented by analysts who discuss a wide range of topics related to psychoanalytic theory and practice.  Topics in the past have included deepening the treatment relationship, countertransference, and termination.  Program contents address the application of psychoanalytic principles to everyday clinical challenges.  The series provides an exploration of psychoanalytic ideas and approaches to understanding mental life and emotional difficulties.

Additional Information

PEFB is directed by a Steering Committee comprised of representatives from its sponsoring institutes as well as interested students and trainees from educational institutions in the Boston, Worcester, and Providence areas.  New committee members are welcome.
