PINE offers a program that combines rigorous study with individual flexibility. We emphasize clinical excellence in the context of continued exploration of theory in psychoanalytic practice. Most of our faculty are full time clinicians. We combine seriousness of purpose with delight in learning and close personal attention to each candidate.
PINE is unique in the psychoanalytic landscape. Ultimately we take pride in graduates who are themselves fine clinicians and teachers, and deeply committed to psychoanalysis as a profession. Many are analysts known nationally and internationally as scholars and contributors to the field.
PINE hosts excellent Society scientific programs on a wide range of topics open to the public.

“What I remember most [from classes] was the feeling in the room. In general I loved my classes. I absorbed everything. It's all part of me now. It opened up my thinking - more expansive, more rigorous.”
“Teaching at PINE has been a stimulating and at times exhilarating experience. Re-reading thoughtful papers in order to facilitate learning for the candidates has deepened my understanding and continues to enrich my work with patients.”
